UI: Crisis erupts over appointment of new Senate member to elect new VC

The University lecturer called for the cancellation of the entire process and the conduct of a fresh election in order to protect the integrity of the whole process of the appointment of the next Vice Chancellor for the University adding that all those found culpable in the manipulation and electoral infringements should be appropriately sanctioned to serve as a deterrence.

#ASUUSTRIKE: Uites are ready to protest!

The President of the Students’Union, University of Ibadan, Akeju has called on students of the University to join in the planned #EndAsuuStrike demonstration expected to hapoen on Friday 20th of November 2020.

UI begins construction of mall at Ajibode Area

The project, a 7,00sqm retail and entertainment space is conceptualised to provide a shopping and entertainment destination for the students and residents living in and around the university community. Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Abel Olayinka, who spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony, said the project was designed to make the premier university less dependent on public funding.

Meanwhile, ASUU have proven that the system does not capture the remuneration of staff on sabbatical, external examiners, external assessors, and Earned Academic Allowances. Also, it does not address the movement of staff as in the case of visiting, adjunct, part-time, consultancy service, which academics offer across universities in Nigeria as the promotion exercise in the Professional Cadre, which is subject to external assessment that may last for several months; in such cases, when the outcome of the exercise is returned positive, the beneficiary is paid arrears from the beginning of the assessment process, but this cannot be captured by IPPIS.
